Lakewood Ford is proud to serve the residents of Lakewood, Washington, located in Pierce County. To be part of such a small, but welcoming community is truly a pleasure.
Lakewood was incorporated back in 1996; previously, the city had been known as Tacoma/Lakewood Center and Lakes District. We’re a growing population. Back in 1970, there were fewer than 50,000 residents in Lakewood, but in the 2010 census, we had more than 58,000. Estimates for 2016 put us above the 60,000 threshold.
We are called Lakewood because of all the lakes (of course!). Lakes within the city limits include American Lake, Lake Louise, Lake Steilacoom, Gravelly Lake, and Waughop Lake. Our economy depends largely on the military bases in the surrounding area. Lakewood is just 20 minutes outside of downtown Tacoma.
Looking for something to do in Lakewood? Catch a new film at AMC Lowes Lakewood Towne Center 12, or spend a day outside at Lakewold Gardens. Escape for a day to the Olympus Spa, or take in a show at Lakewood Playhouse. Most of our residents love the outdoors, so they can often be found out hiking around, swimming, fishing, and kayaking across our lakes.
Feeling hungry in Lakewood? We have lots of favorite restaurants to recommend. For fine dining, stop by El Gaucho Tacoma or De La Terre, or enjoy the finest local cuisine at Pacific Grille, Marzano’s Restaurant, or 208 Garfield. Grab some lunch at MoonRise Café, or keep things cheap at Hefty’s Burger or Hoagie’s Sub Deli.
If you are looking for a cool place to relax in the evening, head to Lake City Pub for delicious beer, wine, and cocktails. Other local favorites include Hop Jack’s, Bleu Note Restaurant and Lounge, Fan Club, Legends at Denny’s, Green Pub Sports Bar, Cheers Bar & Grill Lakewood, and Rollies Tavern.
Lakewood may not be the largest community in Washington, but it is certainly one of the most friendly.
